Sports gained major popularity during this decade. The twenties have also been named the "Age of the Spectator." Workers had more free-time in the twenties because the economy was booming through most of it. The radio also made it easier to hear what was going on with sports, who was playing, when they were playing, how much it was; it put everyone on a more connected and even level.
